- Wash and soak dal and rice for 20 minutes..
- Heat 3tbsp of oil and 3tbsp of desi ghee in pressure cooker over medium heat..
- Add 2 bay leaves,1 cinnamon stick,1 star anise and 1 big cardamom to hot oil.Saute for 1-2 minutes..
- Add 1tsp of mustard and 1tsp of cumin seeds to hot oil and stir..
- When mustard and cumin seeds starts to crackle add chopped onion and green chilli.(I chopped onion and green chilli together with hand chopper).
- Add 1/8 tsp of hing,1 tsp haldi powder,1 tsp red chilli powder,1/2 tsp garam masala when onion turns translucent and stir well..
- Add chopped tomatoes along with1/2 tsp salt mix well and cook until tomatoes turns soft and mushy..
- Now add 1/2 cup peas (I used frozen peas you can used fresh peas as well),1 chopped carrot,1/2cup beans,1cup capsicum,1 cup cauliflower florets to pressure cooker and mix vegetables well with masala..
- Drain water from dal and rice mixture,add dal and rice to cooker and mix well with vegetables.Saute for 1-2 minutes..
- Add 4 cups of water,and 1tsp of salt.Stir well..
- Cover the lid and pressure cook for 3 whistle..
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with curd and ghee..
